About Asian Games 2026
The Asiad, the continental multi-sport event for athletes from all over the world is a great opportunity for all of us to get together with sports as its common ground. The 2026 Asian Games will be held around Aichi Prefecture with its capital Nagoya from 19 September to 4 October 2026.
It will be the third time that Japan hosts the Games after Tokyo in 1958 and Hiroshima in 1994. With a host city contract that makes full use of the infrastructure and logistics built up for Olympic and Paralympic events, Aichi-Nagoya will make every effort to deliver an unforgettable experience with sports and Japanese hospitality.
All 45 National Olympic Committees affiliated with the Olympic Council of Asia will send delegations. Besides, all athletes from the countries with an OCA membership have the right to compete in the Asian Games. However, it is important to note that transcontinental nations such as Kazakhstan and Egypt are considered part of the Asian continent but they participate in the African Games instead.
The 2026 Asian Games will feature 32 sports and disciplines ranging from the precision of martial arts to the speed of track and field. It will also welcome the return of cricket to the Games after a century absence. The games will be a spectacular display of athleticism and sportsmanship.
