With the dust settled on a busy free agency period, NFL teams turn their attention to shoring up their rosters via the draft. This year’s event takes place April 24-26 in Green Bay, Wis.
The Tennessee Titans hold the first overall pick, followed by the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants. The rest of the picks are determined by a team’s record from last season, with tiebreakers used to break any ties.
RBs and WRs always dry up quicker than quarterbacks, so the first round is a good time to grab one of the elite players still available. Among the names who could go early: Lamar Jackson (25.3 PPG), Josh Allen (22.3), Jalen Hurts (25.9), and Jayden Daniels (20.9).
As with years past, the first round got a little crazy. Shedeur Sanders, viewed by some as a top-five prospect, didn’t hear his name called until 102 picks had passed.
A number of big-name trades took place on Day 2. The Eagles moved up to take DT Sheldon Campbell with the fourth overall pick, while the Vikings traded up for WR/FB Cam Marshall. The Saints bolstered their secondary by taking safety Tyler Shough, while the Seahawks boosted their pass rush with DT Jalen Milroe.
Minnesota bolstered its defense by adding stout inside linebacker King and solid No. 2 tight end Bartholomew. The Vikings also added to their rotation by drafting guard Ratledge and tackling TeSlaa, who could play either position.
